The Blaa Hypai OZ-O d6-16 system is located in the Norma Expanse region, 12,508.55 LYs from Sol.
It is the 30th survey candidate system in the original Canonn Challenge route, and was visited on day 35 of the Chronicles Expedition.
During the survey of this system there were Guardian Ruins discovered on Planet 4C.
Expedition objective: scan and catalogue Cymatilis Reel Mollusc

WARNING: The following log entry may contain spoilers about an experience in the galaxy of Elite.

    EXPEDITION ALERT

The expedition system objective of locating the Cymatilis Bell Mollusc was not met, despite an extensive and prolonged search.  Instead the Lindigoticum Bell Mollusc was encountered and appropriately catalogued. The fate of the Cymatilis Bell Mollusc is unknown at this time and, without a sensor array deployed in the system from the time of the original Canonn Research Codex entry, the true reason for it’s absence will remain sadly undetermined.  Instead we can only speculate as to the reason the original Notable Stellar Phenomenon is no longer available in system:

  • The Cymatilis Bell Mollusc is a migratory species
  • The Lindigoticum Bell Mollusc is an invasive species
  • The Cymatilis Bell Mollusc was eradicated by a pathogen to which the Lindigoticum Bell Mollusc is immune

The Bell Mollusc is a non-sapient, spacefaring creature that is aptly named  based on it’s shape which also includes distinct linear patterns on it’s underside. The tentacles at it’s base reportedly feed off starlight and convert it into chemical energy.  The mollusc appears to have little to no desire to move unless forced to do so as a result of being struck by another object. The tentacles appear to have a bioluminescent quality to them and were noticed pulsating in bioluminescent intensity at a consistent and predictable interval.  The Linigoticum variant of the Bell Mollusc has a grey purple exterior and pink hilghlights with cyan tentacles.  During the observation period, no other noticeable traits were identified.

Due to their relative small size, compared to other notable stellar phenomena, these mollusc can be easily missed.  A slow ship velocity and reliance on the scanner control panel readings from your ship’s sensor suite are strongly recommended to locate these organisms.

During the survey of the system these other features were observed.
